ESG acquires Leeds-based microbiological laboratory, PMS Micro Limited.
Extends range of services for its Food Division and provides access to new markets
Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG), the UK’s leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services is pleased to announce it has acquired PMS Micro Limited through its Food Division – Eclipse Scientific Group.
Founded in 1986, PMS has become one of the leading independent microbiological laboratories in the north of England. It offers a comprehensive range of tests for bacteria and pathogens in foodstuffs, water and animal feed to customers based locally in Yorkshire, and throughout the UK.
Mark Wood, Managing Director, Food Division says, “We are delighted to welcome the PMS team to the group. PMS has an enviable reputation based on its strong customer focussed ethos and delivery of a quality service, making it an ideal complementary fit with us. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity to grow the business further by leveraging our broader geographic coverage and range of testing, allied to our industry-leading customer portal, EOS. ”
The acquisition marks a further chapter in the ongoing expansion of the Food Division following the opening of its Mirfield laboratory in January 2010. PMS customers will have direct access to a wider range of testing – including nutritional, vitamins and additives, pesticides, and allergen testing. At the same time, the Food Division will benefit from access to new markets, namely, retailer due diligence testing.
PMS Managing Director Andy Muirhead adds, “We are extremely pleased to have joined forces with an organisation that shares the same core values as PMS, and one that is totally committed to cultivating strong long-term relationships with its customers. Eclipse Scientific has clearly worked hard to enhance its heritage as one of the UK’s leading testing organisations by investing in its excellent facilities across the UK and in its personnel. We look forward to an exciting future together. ”
ESG now has over 30 UKAS accredited laboratories and an employee base exceeding 1600.
