"Challenging youth on youth violence and reducing teenage deaths"To address the growing issues of youth violence JAGS provides mentoring and training opportunities for young people to build confidence and survive, often very turbulent teenage years. JAGS provides positive solutions for dealing with conflict and the chance to restore unity in affected communities to break the cycle of youth violence.
Why the community needs usThere are 97,800 young people in the borough and 56% of all offenders between 2010 and 2011 was committed by young people. 'CrossRoads mentors work with vulnerable young people in schools, exiting gangs and on release from prison - "Give £10 today to stop young people dying tomorrow".
Our impact on the communityIn 2012, 12 individuals were supported through 'Crossroads'. 45 young women in schools completed The C.A.R.E. (Choosing Another Route - Empowerment) programme which addresses issues of peer pressure bullying and raises awareness of the devastating effects of youth on youth violence. Our work empowers young people to actively address the issues they face and work towards the long-term aim of creating social change in their local communities
