Close to the three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent this part of England offers some of the very best walking, climbing, cycling and caving. These superbly appointed cottages make first class holiday homes to take in the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, and the west coast seaside resorts of Morecambe, Blackpool and Southport, and the beautiful Lancashire countryside only a few miles away in the Forest of Bowland.
Close to lngleton and Clapham, famous for waterfalls and caves and six miles from the attractive Cumbrian market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, whilst the wild life reserve at Leighton Moss is only a further five miles away.
Recreational facilities around Bentham are many and varied, including fishing in the river Wenning for trout and sea trout. There is an 18 hole golf course with a modern clubhouse. A very active footpath group organizes guided walks around the area; there are around 28 well sign posted walks in all. Both on and off road cycling is very popular and there are many green roads free of traffic to ride, including a cycle way that runs the length of the Lune Valley.
Close to the holiday cottages is the owners Pottery. Guests are welcome to come and "have a go" on a Pottery Course. ranging from half a day to a full week, or simply just to come and watch; The area was once famous for its small potteries and the nearby village of Burton-in-Lonsdale was the centre of this rural industry. The pottery is produced in the traditional manner, mainly on the wheel and fired in a gas kiln to stoneware temperatures and sold either from the showroom which is on site or from several outlets in the Yorkshire Dales. All the Holiday Cottages are provided with pottery made on the premises.
